  Normally I'm pretty careful about sales people but I must have had my guard down due to the nature of the transaction and my obviously naive belief that a funeral consultant would not be so callous as to rip people off when they are at their most vulnerable.

  The reason I have marked them down is due to what I can only describe as a deceptive sales technique. We were keen to have the ceremony at a Cemetery chapel but the Consultant made a number of negative statements about this option and put a fair bit of effort into talking us out of this in favour of having the ceremony at Bowra & Odea itself. We presumed this would be a cost savings as their chapel is in the building and ready to go. No driving required, minimal preparation, no hire fees, no equipment needed etc.

  I hadn't arranged a funeral before and wasn't prepared for the large number of options available and details to decide. This part took 4 hours. The funeral consultant was professional and sympathetic.

  Boy were we in for a shock! Two hour chapel hire at the cemetery would have cost $500 plus some other miscellaneous costs. Compare that to $4500 for the ceremony at Bowra & Odea chapel! Wow! That's what I call getting ripped off! Sadly, we had already advertised the funeral date so it was too hard to change the location.

  Bill, from Bowra & Odea was very helpful when we went to organise the funeral for our Mum. It took a while to do everything but Bill was very compassionate & respectful and really helped with small details. Glen was our celebrant and we were very pleased with him, he was very good on the day. The room at Bowra & Odea is lovely and the food organised through them was very good & the perfect amount. They provided easles for our photo boards as we didn't want digital photos and they were lovely. The reason I only gave 4 stars is that we had bookmarks printed to give out and they forgot to put them out on the day which was disappointing for us, Bill did ring the next day & offered to pay postage for them to be posted out so thank you Bill for doing that. Overall I would highly recommend Bowra & Odea, much nicer to have a funeral there than at the crematorium.
